Ebira (Quiver) : PhotoStory

Near Ikuta River in Hyogo, a traveling monk hears from a man about the origins of the “Plum of the Quiver.”

It was springtime long ago, during the Genji and Heike clan wars of the 12th century. The story concerns a young Genji warrior called Kajiwara no Genda Kagesue.

Kagesue cut a branch of plum blossom in full bloom and put it in the quiver of arrows at his waist.

Enveloped in the fragrant scent of the plum blossoms, he led the charge on the battlefield.

He was surrounded by the enemy and his helmet knocked to the ground.

For his small force, the battle was hard.

Using his full range of secret fighting arts, victory was won.
