Ozawa-no-Gyōbu Tomofusa, a native of Shinano Province (now Nagano Prefecture), is the keeper of an inn called Kabutoya in Ōmi Province (now Shiga Prefecture).

Tomofusa realizes that the wife and son of his murdered master are guests at the inn.

Hanawaka is the son of Tomofusa's former master, Yasuda Tomoharu. He embraces Tomofuji. It is a tearful reunion.

Amazingly, their enemy Mochizuki is also staying at the inn. To take revenge, Tomoharu's wife and son disguise themselves as a blind female entertainer and her attendant.

Tomofusa proposes a party to Mochizuki's retainer. With Tomoharu's wife and son, he enters Mochizuki's room.

Tomoharu's wife and son perform a chant. Signaling Hanawaka to take revenge, Tomofusa says, “Strike the tabor!”

Hanawaka beats the drum and dances.

The lion dance lowers the guard of Mochizuki.

During the fascinating dance, Mochizuki drinks too much.

Seizing their chance, Tomofusa and Hanawaka take their revenge against Mochizuki.
