Yoroboshi : PhotoStory

It is spring at Tennō-ji Temple in Osaka. Shuntoku-maru appears. The son of Takayasu Michitoshi, he was banished from his family home and has become a blind beggar, or yoroboshi.

Regretting what he has done, Michitoshi is making offerings at the temple. Shuntoku-maru recognizes the scent of fallen plum blossom petals.

Michitoshi does not notice his child but mentions that the flower is part of the practice of making offerings. He makes an offering to Shuntoku-maru.

Grateful for the blessing, Shuntoku-maru relates the origins of Tennō-ji Temple for the glory of Buddhism.

Michitoshi realizes that the fragile preacher is his son. To avoid the attention of others, he decides to open up to him that evening.

Shuntoku-maru meditates on the setting sun, picturing the beautiful scenery of Naniwa in his mind.

The father admits his identity to his son. Shuntoku-maru attempts to flee, but finally they return together to his home village.

Long ago, Shuntoku-maru appeared with his wife in some productions.
