Hyakuman : PhotoStory

It is the Great Nembutsu Festival at Seiryōji Temple in spring. A madwoman called Hyakuman appears when she hears a local man chanting the nembutsu invocation badly.

After Hyakuman demonstrates the nembutsu, her madness finally starts to show.

Her thoughts have turned to the child she has become separated from.

Hyakuman recites the nembutsu, praying to see her child again.

A boy who has come to the festival realizes that Hyakuman is his mother and asks the person with him to confirm this.

Hyakuman relates her story. Thinking about her child, she performs a number of dances.

“Amid the spring blossoms, I miss my child so much.”

“I can't believe it! I have met my child!” They are both overjoyed and return home to Nara.
