The wife and child board a boat decorated with hand drums and clappers to chase away the birds that have devastated the rice fields.

Lamenting the master being in the service of the retainer.

Hurried on by retainer Sako-no-jō, the two begin driving away the birds.

Despite their unhappiness, they work hard to chase off the birds.

Higurashi returns, gets angry and is set to destroy high-handed retainer Sako-no-jō.

His wife intervenes, blaming everything on Higurashi’s long absence. Sako-no-jō is forgiven.
